A Brief, Student-Friendly Lab Manual for One-Semester A&P

Developed especially for a fast-paced, one-semester A&P course, Elaine Marieb and Pamela Jackson's Essentials of Human Anatomy and Physiology Laboratory Manual, 7th Edition provides 27 full-colour, hands-on laboratory exercises, along with a built-in Histology Atlas. The Lab Manual can accompany any one-semester A&P text, but it is most effectively paired with Marieb and Keller's Essentials of Human Anatomy & Physiology, 12th Edition. Each lab exercise consists of a variety of easy-to-follow activities, all supported by a checklist of materials, a Pre-Lab Quiz, background information, learning objectives, and tear-out review sheets.

The black and white figures in previous editions are now in full-colour, and the 7th Edition further expands on its student-friendly writing style with updated terminology and review questions, streamlined content presented in tables, and a new, more intuitive design.

Elaine N. Marieb, R.N., Ph.D., joined the faculty of the Biological Science Division of Holyoke Community College after receiving her Ph.D. in zoology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. While teaching at Holyoke Community College, Dr. Marieb pursued her nursing education, which culminated in a Master of Science degree with a clinical specialization in gerontology from the University of Massachusetts. This experience, along with continual feedback from health care professionals, has inspired the unique perspective and accessibility for which her best-selling texts and lab manuals are known.  Dr. Marieb serves on the board of directors of the famed Marie Selby Botanical Gardens and on the scholarship committee of the Women’s Resources Center of Sarasota County.

 

Pamela B. Jackson, Ph.D. teaches Anatomy, Physiology, and Biology at Piedmont Technical College where she is also active with the Community College Undergraduate Research Initiative (CCURI) to engage undergraduate students in hands-on research experiences.  Dr. Jackson began her academic career at Erskine College, where she earned a B.S.in Health and Exercise Science, and she received a Ph.D. in Genetics at Clemson University.    With a lifelong appreciation for teaching and science, Dr. Jackson works closely with other faculty and administrators to recruit, retain, and support women in STEM programs at Piedmont Technical College.
