Richard Huscroft is Head of History at Westminster School in London. His doctoral research was on the career of Robert Burnell (d.1290), Bishop of Bath and Wells and Chancellor of King Edward I. Since then he has written on Medieval history, the most recent title being Power and Faith: Politics and Religion in Western Europe from the tenth to the Thirteenth Century.

The documents issued by medieval bishops cast an important light on their affairs and on the history of the English Church during the Middle Ages. English Episcopal Acta 47 brings together the surviving documents issued by the Bishops of Bath and Wells, both of whom served in King Edward I's government.
