The book deals with the propagation and absorption of high frequency waves in plasmas (hot fully ionized gases), a subject on which work is very active in controlled fusion research (the quest for energy from nuclear reactions similar to those going on within the sun) and in astrophysics. The subject is by its nature a multi-disciplinary application (and a very rich and interesting one) of classical physics. The book could therefore be useful as a source for courseson electromagnetism or classical kinetic theory at a medium to advanced level.
