Khader offers a deliberative perfectionist approach to identifying and responding to adaptive preferences-- deprived people's preferences that perpetuate their deprivation. She argues that adaptive preferences are deficits in flourishing that are causally related to deprivation and claims that intervention aimed at transforming them is compatible with respect for persons and cultures.
