This edited volume proposes that an understanding of ASEAN - its development and institutionalisation - is invaluable to our conception of International relations theory in the Asian context.



Ceren Ergenç is Associate Professor at the Department of China Studies at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in Suzhou, China. She previously held positions as Assistant Professor at Middle East Technical University and Visiting Researcher at Peking University, Renmin University, and Fudan University. She holds a PhD from Boston University in political science with a particular focus on area studies. Her research interests include state-society relations in contemporary China and East Asia, urban politics, public participation, and political efficacy as well as comparative methodologies in area studies and debates on global history.
