Biografische Anmerkung

Bertie bear gets a call from his Grandpa, who has hurt himself, to please come and help on the farm. Based in New Zealand. Bertie does all the farm chores feeding the animals and collecting the produce and then he finds a very old rundown barn. What he discovers inside amongst the dust is exciting and unexpected! Of course Bertie also shares the recipe for his favourite jelly biscuits after discovering it in a very old book in the barn. Perhaps it is the start of a picnic with the reader's own teddy bears, if there is an adult available to make them.

A delightful shared bedtime story for the youngest book lover, not only will this beautiful book featuring stunning full colour photographs capture their imagination, but it will also be the beginning of many conversations about farm animals and where everyday food comes from. Rabbits, cows, chickens, lambs, and eggs, there is plenty to talk about while enjoying the clever rhyming text and teddy bear's adventures.

Mike Legg was born in London and moved with his family to New Zealand when he was seven. He has always adored the sounds and rhythms of words and the delicious and powerful mental images that they can create. He always wanted to share his love of words and with his often quirky humor, he realised that teaching was a great place to be. For 14 years Mike was lucky enough to be able to inspire reluctant readers to get joy from shared story times right through to working with gifted children to produce their own word fests. His other great love is music, and Mike found huge pleasure in rhythms both in singing in a rock band and playing guitar. It therefore felt so natural for him to write in rhyming poetic form.
