Dr. Hammer received her Master of Science degree from New York University and her Doctorate in Nursing from Adelphi University. She has been a nurse educator for almost thirty five years having taught in associate, baccalaureate and master's degree programs. She is retired from Quinnipiac University where she served as the chairperson of the department of nursing and as the former academic coordinator of the master's program in forensic nursing. Dr. Hammer has a strong interest in forensic issues particularly in the area of elder and child abuse and in forensic nursing education. She has authored and co-authored several articles and presented at many conferences relative to forensic nursing.
