Charles H. Fairbanks was the chair of the University of Florida Anthropology Department from 1963 to 1970. As a Southeastern US and historical archaeologist, he worked on such sites as Ocmulgee, Fort Frederica, and Fort Center.

Frank M. Setzler was the head curator of anthropology at the Smithsonian Institute.
