Biografische Anmerkung

Poetry. Native American studies. Written over a period of twelve years, these beautiful poems of Abenaki Heritage invoke the natural world of New England and the poet's meditations upon it. The land and culture Bruchac celebrates is part of his family's continuing legacy. In a second section, the well-traveled poet views a variety of creatures and events; from these encounters it becomes apparent Bruchac is always at home, always centered, no matter where he is. Joseph Bruchac lives with his wife Carol and their two sons, James and Jesse, in Greenfield Center, New York. He is the author of over 100 volumes of poetry, fiction, memoir, children's stories, and anthology collections. His most recent novel, The Winter People, tells the story of the 1759 Roger's Raid on a native village from the point of view of the Abenaki people.

Novelist, short story writer, memoirist, and anthologist Joseph Bruchac is the winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Native Writers Circle of the Americas and also has received both the Traditional Storytelling and the Prose Writing Awards from the Wordcraft Circle of Native Writers and Storytellers. He is the author of over 100 books for both adults and young readers.
