The lives of an unhappily married retired medical specialist with apparent dentin and a deceptively prim nurse with secrets to hide are forever changed by the events of a stormy winter night in the fictional city of Redfern near Toronto. Add in a drug-dealing fly fisherman, egotistical police officers, a nagging wife, ambitious lawyers, a shady newspaper reporter, a Muslim physician, and a professor of moral philosophy, all of whose lives become intricately intertwined because of those same events, and you still have only part of this fast-paced thriller chok full of lies, deceptions and secrets. Medical mysteries abound while deep questions of morality, religion, and philosophy are hotly debated but left largely unanswered. The intrigue is compounded by adventures in Northern Ontario, upstate New York, the Grand Canyon, and Macchu Picchu.
