A Life Touched by Nature tells the story of Jack Connery, a Central Floridian, whose early love of the natural world was nurtured and developed through the scouting movement. At a young age he was awarded Eagle Scout status and became an Audubon Society member, joining the fight to protect Florida's rich avian landscape. His lasting achievement was as the visionary co-founder of Mead Botanical Garden in Winter Park, Florida, the legacy garden of the famous American horticulturist, Theodore Mead, that opened in 1940.

Paul Butler is an independent author of novels and children's stories who publishes under the name of Paul Xylinides. He is the life-long friend of David Taylor and is intimately familiar with his paintings and views on aesthetics particularly as applied to the notion of an artist's "personality."
