Biografische Anmerkung

Recently declared the world's second most populous city, the rapid expansion of Delhi in recent years has presented considerable challenges in shaping and developing the city's built environment. This book charts the political, economic and social forces that drove development in India generally and in Delhi in particular, in order to investigate the particular constituents and features that make the city's urban landscape. The book goes on to suggest strategies for building up a sustainable urban environment in Delhi which can be applied in other existing and emerging urban centres. This book will be of considerable interest to Built Environment and Indian Studies students and researchers.
