The authors explore the full range of women on the home front, covering nurses and doctors on the war front and women in combat. This volume also includes an extensive filmography with brief assessments of how women are portrayed in each of these films.



Ralph Donald is professor of mass communications at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and has taught broadcasting, journalism, and film for more than 35 years.
Karen MacDonald is a clinical psychologist whose work includes counseling returning veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
Donald and MacDonald are the authors of Reel Men at War: Masculinity and the American War Film (Scarecrow Press, 2011).
