Smile takes the reader on a one-woman journey through the terrors and vicissitudes of growing old. This is a monologue for the 21st century, a treatise on appearance and reality, and the acceptance of the inevitable.

Belgian author Évelyne Wilwerth's bibliography takes up several pages. She has written a half-dozen poetry books and a similar number of novels, and some 20 children's books, as well as theatre pieces, radio plays, and essays. Christine Tipper is an accomplished translator.
