Giorgio Vasari (1511-1574) was a Florentine architect and painter; in addition to his great Lives, his best-known works are the frescoes in the Palazzo Vecchio. Carlo Ridolfi (1594-1658) was an Italian writer and painter; his biography of Venetian painters is one of the seminal sources on Renaissance and Baroque Venetian painting. Marco Boschini (1605-1681) was a Venetian painter, restorer, and art dealer. Isabella d'Este (1474-1539) was the Marchioness of Mantua and one of the leading art patrons of the Italian Renaissance.
