Highly accessible and user-friendly, this book focuses on helping K-12 teachers increase their use of classroom management strategies that work. It addresses motivational aspects of teacher consultation that are essential, yet often overlooked. The Classroom Check-Up is a step-by-step model for assessing teachers' organizational, instructional, and behavior management practices; helping them develop a menu of intervention options; and overcoming obstacles to change. Easy-to-learn motivational interviewing techniques are embedded throughout. In a large-size format with lay-flat binding to facilitate photocopying, the book includes 20 reproducible forms, checklists, and templates.

Wendy M. Reinke, PhD, is Assistant Professor in School Psychology at the University of Missouri and Co-Director of the Missouri Prevention Center. She developed the Classroom Check-Up, an assessment-based classwide teacher consultation model. Her research focuses on the prevention of disruptive behavior problems in children and on increasing school-based implementation of evidence-based practices. Dr. Reinke presents nationally, has published numerous peer-reviewed articles, and is coauthor of one previous book. Keith C. Herman, PhD, is Associate Professor in Counseling Psychology at the University of Missouri and Co-Director of the Missouri Prevention Center. He is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), an international group of MI experts. Dr. Herman presents nationally and has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles and chapters. Much of his work focuses on applying MI in working with teachers and families to promote effective environments for children.
Randy Sprick, PhD, is Director of Teaching Strategies, a company that provides inservice programs throughout the country. Each year he conducts workshops and classes for over 20,000 teachers and administrators. He has been a classroom teacher of students with emotional and behavioral problems and has worked as a teacher trainer and supervisor of teachers at both the elementary and secondary levels.
