Biografische Anmerkung

Launch into Reading Success Through Phonological Awareness Training offers classroom and learning assistance teachers an auditory training program to use with students after initial screening.
This program has been designed by educational psychologists who wish to transfer research conclusions into educational practice. It is particularly useful for teachers working with kindergarten children at risk of reading delay; however, it is not limited to this group.

Lorna Bennett, PhD, has 30 years of experience teaching kindergarten through university. In 1986, Lorna was recognized by her colleagues with the David Kendall Master Teacher Award. As a teacher of teachers, she has conducted extensive profes- sional training throughout British Columbia on program modification and the inclu- sion of learning disabled children. She is a member of the Reading/Language in Early Childhood Committee of the International Reading Association (1999-2000). Lorna established a district-based Diagnostic Center and implemented ongoing support for children with learning problems. Lorna has been a member of a Canadian team of teachers, sponsored by the British Columbia Teachers' Federation and the Canadian Teachers' Federation, to teach educators in Guyana (1991, 1999) and Thailand (1993). Lorna is currently a school psychologist in School District 44 (North Vancouver). Pamela Ottley, Ph.D., is an educational psychologist who studied at University College, London, Brooks College, Oxford, and the University of British Columbia. She has many years of experience as a psychologist in the U.K. and Canada in both the public and private sectors. Pam began to provide workshops on early screening and intervention in England before the first commercial tests were available. She also co-wrote an intervention program that became used throughout Hampshire schools. She continued to make presentations on this subject as both screening and intervention methods became more numerous and widely available: in the UK, the USA and Canada. Currently Pam is an independent educational consultant, providing assessment and consultancy services to students, teachers and parents and also offering workshops and training for teachers and parents. As well as being co-author of "Launch Into Reading Success: Through Phonological Awareness Training", she has written "Sound Track for Reading" (Vancouver CA: LEARNING SOLUTIONS).
