Biografische Anmerkung

This quirky, charming and hilarious debut novel takes you on a fun romp through office politics, anger management and finding redemption in the unlikeliest of places. An easy read, it's especially relatable if you work in an office anywhere.
When Morag and Jamie arrive in London, UK, from southern Africa, it takes Morag six months and a series of disastrous interviews to find her first job in the Big Smoke.
After getting a job at anger management charity, The HAMP, she finds herself face-to-face with a line-up of unique, annoying and (sometimes) lovable colleagues. All goes smoothly, sort of, until a disastrous tweet sends this fictitious London charity into crisis management and on to the sports field, where hilarity and heroes emerge.
Fans of The Office will enjoy this feel-good satire. Morag's keen observations, crushing neuroses and wild exaggerations will have you laughing out loud one moment, and profoundly moved, the next.

I've always loved writing, and telling stories. Whether that was writing letters to my friends and family when I was at boarding school as a child, or writing emails that eventually turned into blog posts about our move to London. I've also always liked people, and am fascinated by how different and similar we all are and how we all have a unique view of the world around us.My friends and family will tell you that I can't help but notice random things about everything that goes on all around me, and I have an obsessive need to talk - or write - about it. My debut novel, Sweet Charity, which I published in January 2022, became a composite of so much of that; many notebooks' worth of random observations over many years. If you've read my book - thank you so much for taking a chance on me, a new author! And thank you also to those of you who've left reviews, I really appreciate them. I plan to start working on my next novel this year.A bit about me: I was born in Zimbabwe, to South African parents, and grew up in both Zambia and Zimbabwe. After finishing high school in Bulawayo, I studied at the University of Cape Town. I now live in London with my husband, and we travel back to Cape Town whenever we can. It was our home for many years, and where our two sons grew up. London is fun and exciting, and southern Africa forever holds a special place in my heart.
