Sohkeyihta includes poems written across the expanse of Louise Bernice Halfe's career, from 1990 to the present, illustrating the breadth of her engagement with key issues confronted by Indigenous peoples living in Canada, including residential schools, church and state apologies, the fur trade, and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
Sky Dancer Louise Bernice Halfe is nehiyaw poet raised on the Saddle Lake Reserve in Alberta. Louise has travelled extensively nationally and internationally both as a poet and keynote speaker. She served as poet Laureate in Saskatchewan for two years and was given an honorary Ph.D. from Wilfrid Laurier University.
