Desire Lines is a collection of essays on art, poetry and culture. In it topics range from the influence of Plato on the poetry of Anne Carson (expanding on his Globe & Mail articles), to the influence of the cultural revolution on the art of Ai Weiwei. Ewan Whyte covers topics that range from his thoughts on an extreme American/Canadian mind control cult and examines the cultural implications of the cadaver plasticization work of Gunter von Hagens as well as the influence of violence as creation in the art of Viktor Mitic.

Ewan Whyte is a writer and translator. He has written for the Globe & Mail and The Literary Review of Canada. He is the author of Entrainment, a book of poetry, and a translation, Catullus: Lyric, Rude and Erotic. He makes his home in Toronto.
