Biografische Anmerkung

When the wind snatches a cranky man's umbrella and drops it at a the feet of little boy outside a patisserie, the hasty curmudgeon slows down long enough for an unlikely friendship to blossom.

Catherine Buquet has never forgotten the books that
mesmerized her as a child. After completing her studies in Modern Literature
and teaching for several years, she began writing stories for children, and is
now a full-time writer. Catherine has read countless stories: at bedtime and
during the day; at university, to her students, and to her own daughters. Under the Umbrella (first published in
French as Sous le parapluie by
éditions Les 400 coups) is her first picture book. After
obtaining a diploma in animation at Les arts Décoratifs de Paris, Marion Arbona started working as a
children's book illustrator. With over thirty titles to her name. Marion is now
a three-time Governor General's Award finalist, and has also received
recognition in several international art competitions. Gouache and pencil are
Marion's preferred media; her favorite gouache color is light cadmium red.
Marion has been awarded several illustration prizes in the USA and in Canada,
where she lived for ten years. She returned to live in Paris in 2015.
