Michele Moore Veldhoen played slo-pitch with the Rainbows of Okotoks, Alberta for sixteen out of the team's twenty year history. During those years she raised a family and a few chickens, did the office work for a family business, went to university, became a politician, a model, and eventually, a teacher and writer.
Her memoir, The View From Right Field, is honest, touching, and on base with the importance and humour of her time with the Rainbows. It is a fond recollection of the value of sports and sporting friends after the daily struggle of work, relationships, kids, and the author's self -diagnosed Psychogenic Hypochondria.

It embraces the value of the precious teammates in our lives; those who accept us and celebrate who we are in spite of warts, weaknesses, bad habits and tempers. Thanks to her outrageous friends from the Rainbows and their national tours across Canada to compete in the SPN Molson Coors Slo-Pitch Championships, the author was able to keep her crazy life in perspective, and hold fast to that special place---right field.

Michele Moore Veldhoen spent much of her childhood In out of the way BC towns. In 1978, while still in high school, she moved to Calgary, Alberta, where she continues to reside. After years of working in a family business, studying, raising her children, and taking exploratory trips down many different paths, she finally became a passionate teacher of English to speakers of other languages, and began to realize her most enduring dream, to be a writer.
