Biografische Anmerkung

Pubs and other drinking establishments have always played a central role in London life - consequently London's diverse and fascinating history is reflected in them. Did you know that London boasts a pub licensed to sell stamps? Or that there is another which is also a licensed pawnbrokers? At one time, if you were a rich patron, you could call for an "execution breakfast" at the Magpie Stump whilst enjoying a grandstand view of the hangings outside Newgate Prison. In London Pubs David Brandon brings these and many other previously unknown facts together in an easily accessible volume, which will appeal to anyone who has an interest in the history of London and its pubs.

David Brandon spent much of his working life in adult education in colleges and universities. He has a passion for history and is a published author. He runs a variety of courses and lectures on topics such as 'Absolute Rotters and Total Cads - Villains in British History'; and 'You Are What You Eat - Food and Eating Habits 1550-2000'. He has also co-written several successful titles with Alan Brooke. He lives in Peterborough.
