Arthur is thrilled to make the Little League team, but worries that he won't be able to play as well as all his friends. At practice he tries hard, but his skills are rusty and he's an absolute klutz. Francine, who thinks she's the best player on the team, wants the coach to bench Arthur. Even Buster's good luck charm (a shriveled up carrot) doesn't help Arthur do better at batting or fielding the ball. As the first game creeps closer - will Arthur be able to show his teammates that they can count on him?

Marc Brown is, perhaps, best known as creator, author and illustrator of the Arthur children's books that inspired the award winning animated PBS series. He has been working with the beloved aardvark for over forty years. Born one night when Brown was telling a bedtime story to his son, Arthur soon evolved into the book Arthur's Nose, published in 1976. Since then, Brown has written and illustrated many Arthur and D.W. books, and has illustrated many other bestsellers with other authors - including several with his wife, author, artist and psychologist, Laurie Krasny Brown.
