Root Canal treatment involves removal of infected pulp and completely fill the space in three dimension to prevent apical and coronal invasion of microbes. The obturation of the root canal is done with gutta-percha along with sealers to obtain a fluid tight seal which is mandatory for all endodontic treatments. The root canal sealers are expected to kill all the remaining microbes after cleaning and shaping and also fills the irregularities between materials and canal walls, accessory canals and multiple foramina. There are various types of sealers with different functions discussed here which helps in providing long term success in endodontic treatment.
