David Hernàndez de la Fuente (Madrid, 1974) began his career as a writer with the book, Las puertas del sueño (Kailas: Madrid, 2005), which was recipient of the 8th annual prize for youth narrative from the Community of Madrid in 2004. He has also published the novel, Continental (Kailas: Madrid, 2007), which was hailed by the critics for its innovative literary experimentation. Recently, he was distinguished with the prestigious Valencia literary prize in 2010 for his novel, Protected, published by Nowtilus. Hernandez de la Fuente is also known for his works that weave together literary essay with fiction. Titles such as Lovecraft (ELR: Madrid, 2004), a mythological tale between biography and fiction that evokes the works of the North American horror writer, H.P. Lovecraft, and Las màscaras del hidalgo (Delirio: Salamanca, 2010), which addresses the classic echoes in Cervantes, are examples of such works. He has also authored the works, Oràculos griegos (Alianza: Madrid, 2008), and De Galatea a Barbie (Lengua de Trapo: Madrid, 2010), co-written with philosopher Fernando Broncano. In addition to his writing work, he teaches classic literature at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
