"How Did I Get Here So Fast?" is Jersey Boy Charles Vanyo's memoir about his adventurous ride through seven decades of life, the paths he's maneuvered and avoided, and how someone belatedly comes to terms with his choices over the years. His memoir recounts many comic and serious episodes that have, he hopes, ultimately made the author into a fully realized human being. It will resonate with anyone who grew up in northern New Jersey during the sixties and seventies, anyone who has had to care for aging parents, and anyone who has reached the age of seventy and wondered how they got there.
Charles Vanyo is a born-and-bred Jersey Boy who hopes that someone might take pleasure in the tales of his misspent youth in the northern netherworld of the Garden State. He has worked in government, human services, health care, and retail with varying degrees of success. He derives lasting satisfaction from his literary and musical endeavors. He believes that no single person should be the center of the universe, that cigars and beer are healthy, and that life shouldn't be taken too seriously. Charlie is married and currently lives in Lincoln Park, New Jersey.
