In Prester John (1910), author John Buchan tells the story of David Crawford, whose travels in South Africa lead to his involvement in a massive Zulu uprising. As he attempts to resolve the conflict, the young Scotsman is challenged to prevail over a South African minister, who has taken the title of a mythical priest-king named Prester John.

JOHN BUCHAN (1875-1940) was a British novelist and historian who divided his time between writing adventure fiction and serving in various political and diplomatic positions, the most notable of which was as Governor General of Canada.
