We wear a lot of hats in the restaurant industry. On any given day you might find yourself being a manager, an electrician, a therapist, a politician, or a salesperson, just to name a few. Being the person that other people come to for help and guidance means you are dealing with all of the personalities and life circumstances that come with those people, which is not only hard work, but a big responsibility.

I am not saying that all hats are not important in time. They are important. A plumber hat can be a make-or-break hat for your establishment to open its doors. I will even go so far as to wager you will need a plumber hat being worn in your building over the next twelve months. But remember you were not hired to fix a leaky faucet or unplug a toilet. I am suggesting there is another hat you can wear that will help with the water shooting out of somewhere and flooding the dish pit. By appropriately applying your time, you can plan, limit, or delegate the other hats that will surely arise.
